Yes folks, there was a time not so long ago when jazz was featured on the late night talk shows. In this classic clip, guitarist John McLaughlin shows off his chops on a very up-tempo version of Ray Noble's Cherokee.
Vic Juris recorded a blazing uptempo Cherokee on Horizon Drive, his second album for Muse back in the late 1970s, while still in his 20s. It's worth checking out.

Love this clip, just wish the guitar was up a bit more. He is so relaxed. I think the song is Cherokee.
Yep, that's a burning version of Cherokee. Only a few guys, like John, are brave enough to take it that fast!
That's Cherokee - Sonny Rollins/Clifford Brown, non?

Ah, to be a musician and be playing on Johnny Carson. Wouldn't that be nice.
